The twins are currently enjoying — and trying to memorise — the song “The Ants Go Marching One By One”. They know most of the lyrics by now but tend to forget some parts, as I do.
What’s funny thing is what the twins do whenever we stumble over the lyrics:-
Twins: (Singing) The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching one by one, the little one stops and…
(Slight pause…)
(Suddenly exclaiming) Something lah!
(Resuming singing) And they all go marching down around the town.
Here are the complete lyrics (thanks to SongsForTeaching.com) and a link to the song:-
The Ants Go Marching
The ants go marching one by one. (Hurrah, hurrah!)
The ants go marching one by one. (Hurrah, hurrah!)
The ants go marching one by one, the little one stops to suck his
thumb,
And they all go marching down around the town.
The ants go marching two by two
…to tie her shoe.
The ants go marching three by three
…to climb a tree.
The ants go marching four by four
…to shut the door.
The ants go marching five by five
…to take a dive.
The ants go marching six by six
…to pick up sticks.
The ants go marching seven by seven
…to go to heaven.
The ants go marching eight by eight
…to jump the gate.
The ants go marching nine by nine
…to scratch his spine.
The ants go marching ten by ten
…to say, “The end.”
